At Cafe Sol, you can save money just by being nice

The food and hospitality industry has a lamentable way of rewarding disrespect towards the server.

The more we complain to the server, the more likely we are to get better service. If you tell the manager that the lasagna tastes worse than your homeless cousin’s sun-bleached gym-shorts, he will probably apologize profusely and offer you a discount. If you tell the waiter that he looks like the aforementioned gym shorts dragged into the restaurant by a feral cat, the restaurant might offer you a complimentary treat to appease you.

But what if you’re a friendly customer who smiles at the waiter and compliments his or her hard work? What if you’re a nice person who appreciates the cook putting his or her heart into your meal? What do you get? Nothing. You get the full bill and a half-attentive ‘thanks’, because the staff is too busy attending to an angry customer kicking furniture around at the next table.

At Cafe Sol, we promise that your politeness towards the staff will no go unnoticed and unrewarded.

As a small token of our appreciation, we are introducing a new ‘politeness discount’ to all customers who are nice to our crew. It doesn’t take much. Saying ‘please’, ‘thank you’, or giving a polite smile to your host will fetch you a discount.

Kindness is as powerful as it is infectious. Please help us maintain the warm, positive vibe for which community space is best known.
